Dehydration is when you use or lose more water from your body compared to what you are taking in. Thirst isn’t always a reliable symptom of dehydration. Many people, particularly older adults, don’t feel thirsty until they’re already dehydrated. That’s why it is important to increase water intake during hot weather or when you’re sick. It can make you feel tired and lead to unwanted weight gain. Try to drink 8 glasses of water a day to stay hydrated.
