What is Insulin?



Insulin is a peptide hormone produced by the pancreas. It regulates the metabolism of carbohydrates and fats by using the glucose from blood for energy or to store glucose for future use. Insulin helps keeps your blood sugar level from getting too high or too low. The main function of insulin for the human body is its interaction with glucose to allow the cells of the body to use glucose as fuel.
