What is diabetes?

Diabetes is a metabolical disorder — metabolism is the way body converts food into fuel for growth and other activities.

Types of Diabetes

Diabetes can be divided into three types based on how it affects our body:

1. Type 1 Diabetes: Sometimes in diabetes, immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. The pancreas then produces little or no insulin. When this happens, it is called type one diabetes.
2. Type 2 Diabetes: Type 2 diabetes is when the body produces enough insulin for metabolization, but for some reason, the body cannot use it effectively.
3. Gestational diabetes: Some pregnant woman develops diabetes during the late period of pregnancy. This type of diabetes disappears after giving birth.
